Khushbu Handicrafts, led by proprietor Amar Singh Chouhan, is one of Jodhpur's leading manufacturers and exporters of leather furniture. From our base in Soorsagar, Jodhpur (Rajasthan, India), we manufacture a wide range of leather furniture - leather sofa sets, designer wedding sofas, Maharaja sofas, leather chairs, leather & iron chairs, wooden-and-leather sofas, recliners, office and airport sofas, stools, ottomans, beds and benches.

We have constructed a wide and well-functional infrastructural unit in Jodhpur - India's furniture capital - where frame-making, cutting, stitching, tufting, upholstery and finishing all happen under one roof. This plays an important role in the growth of our company: it lets us offer these products at reasonable rates and deliver them within the promised time-frame, whether the order is one wedding sofa set or a full container of chairs.

What has changed is the map. Khushbu pieces now sit in wedding venues and banquet halls across India, boutique hotels in Dubai, designer showrooms in Stockholm and Milan, private libraries in London, and members-only lounges in Mumbai and New York. We ship full and LCL containers to more than forty countries - and we still treat every order, whether it's four chairs or forty sofas, like it's the only one.

Our Craft

How a Khushbu Piece is Built

Every order moves through six distinct stages, each handled by a single craftsman whose name is on the underside of the finished piece.

01 · Hand-Picked Hides

Each order begins with the lead craftsman inspecting hides from LWG-compliant tanneries across India - from Kanpur to Chennai - and rejecting anything below standard. They check hides one by one, looking for the right colour, the right grain, and the right flexibility. A hide with a scar on the back is fine. A hide with thin spots is rejected.

02 · Hardwood Frame

The frame is built from kiln-dried sheesham (Indian rosewood) or teak - Jodhpur's famous hardwoods - depending on the model. Joints are hand-mortised, glued, screwed and corner-blocked. We do not use staples, we do not use particle board. Every frame carries a 25-year structural warranty.

03 · Hand Cutting & Stitching

The leather is cut with a press knife against a paper pattern, then hand-stitched on a single-needle Singer machine. Each seam is then hand-finished with a leather bevel. The stitching is locked at every corner, never bar-tacked. This takes longer, but it does not fail.

04 · Hand Tufting & Studs

Buttons are individually tied through the leather and through the foam, to a cotton backing web on the inside of the frame. Brass studs, where used, are hand-nailed one at a time, never machine-applied. The tufts and studs are functional - they hold the leather in tension for life.

05 · Finish & Wax

The finished leather is hand-waxed with a beeswax-and-carnauba blend, then buffed with a cotton cloth. This protects the leather in transit and gives it the soft sheen that develops into a deep patina over the first 18 months of use.

06 · Sign & Ship

The lead craftsman stamps their initials and the build date on the underside of every piece, next to the Khushbu seal. The piece is then wrapped in protective fleece, foam-corned, and strapped to a wooden pallet rated for sea freight. We don't ship anything we wouldn't stand behind.

Our Materials

Only Natural Leather. Five Colourways.

Every Khushbu piece is offered in five core leather colourways, all sourced from LWG-compliant tanneries and inspected at our Jodhpur workshop before a single hide enters production. All are 1.4 - 1.8 mm natural full-grain upholstery leather - vegetable-tanned or chrome-tanned depending on the colour - aniline dyed and finished with a light natural wax. No bonded leather. No PU or PVC coating. No split leather disguised as "full-grain". If we say natural, it is natural.

Saddle Tan - the colour we are known for. A warm mid-tan that develops a rich patina.
Cognac - a deeper amber-tan, popular for accent chairs.
Espresso Brown - our darkest brown, almost black in low light.
Oxblood Red - a deep burgundy reserved for chesterfields and wing chairs.
Jet Black - available on request, for modern minimalist interiors.

What We Stand For

Three Principles, No Compromises

Material Honesty

We label our leather exactly what it is. No "genuine leather" that means nothing. No "full-grain" that's actually split. If we say full-grain, it is full-grain - 1.4 mm or thicker, from the top of the hide, with the natural grain intact.

Realistic Lead Times

We quote what we can actually deliver, not what wins the order. Every quote includes a stage-by-stage timeline. If a date slips, we tell you the same day, with a new realistic date - not a hopeful one.

One Craftsman, One Piece

Each piece is built by a single craftsman from start to finish. Not an assembly line. The same hands that pick the hide on Monday finish the tufting on Friday. The craftsman signs the underside - and they know we'll be calling them if there's ever an issue.
